The Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is a two-year programme which serves as an upgrade for the individual who have completed their GNM courses. The program will help the students develop an understanding of the philosophy, objectives and responsibilities of nursing as a profession. The purpose of the course is to orient the current concepts involved in the practice of nursing and developments in the nursing profession integrating the knowledge of various fields and provide a holistic care to patients and their families through the promotion of health care, prevention of disease, care during illness and rehabilitation at the recovery. Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing program also provides the eligibility to step into Masters Programme.
ELIGIBILITY

- Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the university for this purpose. Those who have done 10+1/PUC on or before 1986, will be eligible for admission.
- The maximum education requirements shall be the passing of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
- Obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery registered as Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with the State Nursing Council.
- Worked for a minimum period of one year as a nurse in a hospital/institution or a full-time Public Health Nurse for one year after obtaining the above mentioned diploma and registered in a State Nursing Council.
- The candidate should have undergone a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery in an institution which is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
- A male nurse trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered a Nurse with the State Nursing Council shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of Midwifery in any one of the following areas:
- O.T. Techniques
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
